Steven Bernstein is a trumpeter, bandleader, arranger, and composer who breaks musical conventions. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with artists like Lou Reed, Sex Mob, and Trey Anastasio, and he grew up in a musical environment in Berkeley, inspired by figures like Josh Redman and Phil Hardymon, who taught children to improvise. In this solo performance project, Bernstein improvises pieces dedicated to creators like Lenny Bruce, Sly Stone, and Leonard Cohen.
