The show was in 1984, in communist East , where an American icon like Bruce Springsteen, at the height of his career, was arriving in a divided . The youth wing of the party that was ruling at the time (the Socialist Unity Party) organized the East Berlin concert of "The Boss" in an attempt to appease a young population that was becoming increasingly disillusioned with the communist regime.
