All beers have 4 main ingredients: malt, hops, water, and yeast. Malt is also known as the grains that make a beer and ultimately contributes sweetness and bready, toasty, or roasted flavors. Hops provide bitterness to balance sweetness from malt and can also provide various aromatics and flavors. Water makes up 90% of beer, proving its worth in the equation. And finally yeast is what actually makes the beer into an alcoholic beverage.
